Last day of the year and I want to show, what I did the last days: I wanted new regency stays and fell in love with a spanish original, that shows how 18th century stays changed into regency stays. It could be worn between the 1790s and 1800s. Unfortunately I don‘t know the precisely year my inspiration is from.
I used my 18th century stays pattern and changed a few things, like the back. The gussets in the front gives the breast more space, than 18th century stays do.
I used three layers of fabric: thin cotton as first layer, solid linen as second layer and muslin as lining. I used cable ties as boning – just the two tunnels in the center front are filled with steel boning.
The original was without tabs and I feared, that it could hurt while wearing, but I tried it today and I have to say: it is very comfy!
